"We came out and took care of business, which is important when you are playing in a tournament with four matches in two days," said second-year Wolfpack coach Bryan Bunn. "NC A&T is struggling a little bit right now, with some players caught up in the NCAA Clearinghouse, so having just six players made it difficult for them. "But it was a good way to start the tournament for us."
The Aggies (0-5) were led by Jenea Daniels' five kills and Chelsea Fox's 11 assists. It was the first of two matches on the day and four matches for the weekend for second-year head coach Bryan Bunn's team. The Pack faces Wisconsin Friday at 5:30 p.m.
The Wolfpack dominated the opening set, with Merriwether highlighting the 25-9 win. In the second set, Richardson came off the bench to make a big impression in the 25-10 win, with six kills on seven hits for a .857 attack percentage.
The Pack took the final set 25-11, led again by Richardson.
As a team, the Wolfpack was impressive with an overall attack percentages of .411, including percentages of .522 and .489 in the first and second sets, respectively.
