State Goes Low in Final Round at Falcon Invitational

COLORADO SPRINGS, Colo. - NC State's 8-under 280 was Monday's low round at the Gene Miranda Falcon Invitational, allowing the Wolfpack to catapult up six places to finish fourth in its season opener at Eisenhower Golf Course.
The Wolfpack's final round was three shots better than the next best team score, UNLV, and that allowed the club to finish the 54-hole tournament at even-par 864 (294-290-280).
Freshman James Chapman also fired the lowest individual round of the day with a 5-under 67 to finish tied for 15th, after starting the day in 50th. His first collegiate tournament saw him finish at 1-under 215 (74-74-67).
Junior Mitchell Sutton, who also began the day in 50th, tied for the second-lowest round of the day with a 4-under 68 that allowed him to tie for 21st at even-par 216 (77-71-68).
Sophomore Albin Choi finished tied for 26th at 1-over 216 (73-73-71) after a final round 1-under 71.
Senior Graham Baillargeon tied for 43rd at 5-over 221 (70-75-76), and true-freshman William Herring finished tied for 80th at 13-over 229 (83-72-74).
Colorado and UNLV were tied at 20-under 844 after 54 holes, but UNLV had a 2-under team score to win the event as CU was even in the playoff.
Ball State's T.J. Carpenter and UNLV's Kevin Penner tied for medalist honors at 7-under 209,
Next up is the Wolfpack Intercollegiate at Lonnie Poole Golf Course on Oct. 3-4 in Raleigh, N.C.
