Pack Concludes Play at the UVa Invitational

Charlottesville, Va. -- The NC State women's tennis team concluded play at the University of Virginia Invitiational today. Sophomore Joelle Kissell had a strong finish to the tournament, taking second in the A Singles. Kissell battled No. 74 Erin Vierra of Virginia to a third set tiebreaker, eventually falling 3-6, 6-4 6-7 (8).
Freshman Elisha Hande also took home a runner-up finish in her flight. She was defeated by Andressa Garcia of Winthrop, 1-6, 4-6, to place second in the C Singles bracket.
Christy Sipes picked up a win for the Wolfpack in singles play, defeating Kristina Koprcina of Marquette 7-6, 6-2 to take seventh place in the B Singles division.
Junor Tatiana Illova beat Ana Bara of VCU 1-6, 6-1, 10-6 to place 13th in the A Singles. Illova and Hande defeated the doubles team of Maria Fuccillo and Li Xi of Virginia, ranked No. 48 in the nation, 8-6, to take home a fifth place finish in the A Doubles.
Kissell teamed with Ashley Miller to defeat Karen Forman and Rebecca Siegler of Wake Forest 8-1, and take seventh place in the A Doubles bracket.
With the UVa Invitational complete, the Wolfpack will prepare for the ITA All-American in Pacific Palisades, Calif. beginning October 1 and running to October 10.
