Raleigh, N.C. -
Playing in front of a packed house at the revamped Dail Soccer Field, the NC State men's soccer team tied UNC Greensboro, 0-0, Tuesday night in the Pack's first exhibition game of the season. Coach Kelly Findley took the field for the first time at the helm of the program, and had 23 players see action during the course of the game.
Sophomore Fabian Otte got the start in goal for NC State, and finished with two saves in his 45 minutes of action. The second half was split between senior Vasilios Dimopoulos (31 minutes) and freshman Joe Mills (14 minutes). Dimopoulos led the Pack with three saves on the night.
Freshman Monbo Bokar had the Pack's first quality look in the 16th minute, but his shot slid wide. Redshirt-freshman Nazmi Albadawi nearly found the back of the net twice in a two minute span midway through the second half, but both of his attempts were saved.
The Spartans best scoring chance came in the 67th minute, when Oddur Gudmundsson rang a shot off the post.
NC State will travel to Davidson this Saturday for its final exhibition contest. NC State's season opens at home on August 26, with a 5:30 p.m. contest against St. Francis (Pa.)
