GREENSBORO, N.C. - Rising seniors Chad Day and Mark McMillen of the NC State men's golf team were named to the 2011 All-ACC Academic team announced Tuesday by the league office.
McMillen, from Smithfield, N.C., lands on the academic team for a second-consecutive season, while Day, a Raleigh native, gets his first nod. Both excelled as business administration majors during their junior year at NC State.
McMillen competed in 11 of the Pack's 13 tournaments this past season, recording a career-best 74.8 scoring average. He finished in a tie for fifth at the Wolfpack Intercollegiate for his first top 10 at NC State. He also added a tied for 12th place finish at the season-opening Invitational at The Ocean Course.
He assisted in team victories for the Wolfpack in both those events.
Meanwhile, Day also posted his best scoring average at NC State with a 74.1 18-hole average, the fourth best on the team. He participated in 12 of the Wolfpack's 13 events in 2010-11, and notched three top-20 finishes. His best showing was a tie for 13th at the Wolfpack Intercollegiate, while also finishing tied for 20th at both The Invitational at The Ocean Course and the Rod Myers Invitational.
To be eligible for consideration for the All-ACC Academic team, a student-athlete must have earned a 3.0 grade point average for the previous semester and maintained a 3.0 cumulative average during his academic career.
