NCAA Men's Golf Championship
INDIANAPOLIS -- NC State is the No. 20 seed in the upcoming NCAA Men's Golf Championship according to the NCAA Division I Men's Golf Committee.
The championship will be held May 31-June 5, at Karsten Creek Golf Club in Stillwater, Okla. - hosted by Oklahoma State University.
The format includes three rounds of stroke play that will determine the NCAA individual champion. Also, the top eight teams after 54 holes will advance to a match play format that will be played over three days to determine the national champion.
The Wolfpack, ranked No. 24 in the final coaches' poll of the 2010-11 season, will play alongside 19th-seeded San Diego and 21st-seeded Oklahoma during the first two rounds. The pairing will begin the first round on Tuesday, May 31 from No. 10 tee at 7:20 a.m. CST.
Wednesday's second round will commence from No. 1 at 12:40 p.m. CST.
The Pack advanced to its 16th NCAA Championship after a fourth-place showing at the NCAA Florida Regional last weekend at Golden Ocala Golf Course in Ocala, Fla. All-ACC sophomore Mitchell Sutton earned a share of medalist honors with a score of 10-under 206.
NC State joins Georgia Tech and Duke as the three schools representing the Atlantic Coast Conference. The SEC leads all conferences with six institutions, followed by the Big Ten (5), Pac 10 (5) and the Big 12 (4). Seven non-BCS schools are also in the field, including defending national-champion Augusta State.
Wake Forest's Lee Bedford is one of six individuals who qualified through regional play.
Host Oklahoma State is the top seed, followed by UCLA, Alabama, Georgia Tech and Florida in the top 5.
