NC State third baseman Bridget Desbois has been named to the 2011 Louisville Slugger/NFCA Division I Southeast Region All-Region second team.
"It is great for Bridget to be recognized by the NFCA Southeast Region," says head coach Lisa Navas. "She has been a steady rock at third base for us over the last four years, despite playing injured both her junior and senior seasons, which makes this award even more special," she explains. "We will greatly miss Bridget, both offensively and defensively, next year."
The McLean, Va., native played in and started all 49 of the Pack’s games in 2011. Desbois led the Wolfpack offensively in her final season in Raleigh, earning a .327 batting average while hitting in the cleanup spot for the majority of the year. In addition, her 48 hits, seven doubles and three triples were tops for the Wolfpack this season. She also scored 17 runs, drove in 24 RBI and grabbed 62 total bases in 2011.
This marks the first time since 2008 that NC State has been represented on the All-Region squad. That season, Shanna Smith earned first team honors and Alyssa Allbritten was named to the second team. Desbois is the ninth player in Wolfpack history to be honored as Louisville Slugger/NFCA All-Region.
