Boffa Hits Two Olympic Trial Cuts

CHARLOTTE, N.C. - NC State's Jonathan Boffa hit two U.S. Olympic trial cuts this past weekend at the Charlotte UltraSwim Grand Prix held in conjunction with USA Swimming. Boffa hit marks in both the 100 and 200 freestyle.


On Saturday Boffa posted a leadoff leg time of 1:52.89 in the 800-freestyle relay, hitting a cut in the 200 freestyle. He beat Wolfpack legend Cullen Jones in the 100 freestyle on Sunday, clocking in with a 51.48.


A native of Sliema, Malta, Boffa will stand as a sophomore with the 2011-12 Wolfpack squad. This season Boffa posted two all-time top-10 individual swims in school history, including fourth in the 200 freestyle (1:37.56) and eighth in the 100 freestyle (44.65).
