Four Swimmers Named to All-ACC Academic Team

RALEIGH, N.C. - Four student-athletes from the NC State swimming and diving program were named to the 2011 ACC Swimming & Diving All-ACC Academic Team on Tuesday, as announced by the conference. Julianna Prim was named to the women's team, while Jonathan Boffa, Kohl Hurdle and Brandon Kingston all picked up the honor on the men's side.
All-ACC Academic student-athletes must have earned at least a 3.0 GPA for the fall semester and maintained a 3.0 or better for their careers, with selection based on athletic merit.
Prim, a sophomore from Yadkinville, N.C., had a very successful first season at NC State after transferring from Pfieffer College. Prim hit a `B' cut in the 200 freestyle with a time of 1:49.18, marking the fourth-best in school history. She is studying biological sciences.
Boffa, a freshman from Sliema, Malta, posted the eighth-best 100 freestyle in team history with a 44.65 at the ACC Championships. His 1:37.56 in the 200 freestyle ranks fourth all-time and was the top time on the team. Boffa is majoring in design.
Hurdle, a freshman from Newport News, Va., is studying computer science. Hurdle's 3:56.45 in the 400 individual medley is eighth all-time. He also hit top times of 51.88 in the 100 backstroke and 1:50.07 in the 200 backstroke.
Kingston, a two-time All-ACC academic selection from Ontario, Canada, posted a leadoff leg of 1:38.28 in the 800-freestyle relay for the fourth-fastest 200 freestyle in school history. A sophomore, Kingston hit another `B' cut with a 15:28.82 in the 1650 freestyle, the top mark on the team in 2011. Kingston is majoring in biological sciences.
