Bhambri Named All-ACC

GREENSBORO, N.C. - NC State’s Sanaa Bhambri earned a spot on the 2011 All-ACC Women’s Tennis Team, according to the conference office Thursday.
Joining the Pack this season while pursuing a graduate degree, Bhambri has played an important role in guiding the Wolfpack to a national ranking of 28th and a 14-7 (5-6 ACC) record, including two top-25 wins.
Bhambri was named ACC Player of the Week on February 1 after defeating USC’s nationally 10th-ranked Danielle Lao in three sets. Following the win, Bhambri climbed as high as 23rd in the national singles rankings.
Over the course of the season, Bhambri notched a team-leading 7-4 record in ACC singles play, and a 15-6 record overall.
In doubles, Bhambri has found success alongside Sandhya Nagaraj. The pair have amassed a 10-7 (5-5 ACC) record and earned a seventh-place national ranking. Heading into the ACC Tournament this weekend, the duo is ranked 18th.
Bhambri becomes the 11th Wolfpacker to take home All-ACC honors, following up Nagaraj’s mention in 2010. Under head coach Hans Olsen, NC State has landed five of the 11 All-ACC distinctions in school history.
