Men's Golf Places 6th at Schenkel Invite

STATESBORO, Ga. – No. 19 NC State finished sixth at the Schenkel Invitational on Sunday held at Forest Heights Country Club.
NC State shot a final round team score of 7-over 295 on Sunday. After recording a spring best 10-under 278 score yesterday, the Wolfpack finished three three-day event at 1-over 865.
Freshman Albin Choi shot a 1-under 71 to finish tied for seventh at 4-under 212, his fifth top 10 finish in seven career collegiate events. After a first-round 2-over 74, the Toronto, Ontario, native finished just five strokes off the lead.
Mitchell Sutton recorded a 3-over 75 today to place tied for 15th at 1-over 217 for the tournament, his fifth top 20 finish of the year.
Mark McMillen and Brandon Detweiler tied for 26th at 3-over 219. McMillen fired a final round three-over 75, while Detweiler was one stroke better at 2-over 74.
Chad Day tied for 58th at 10-over 226.
No. 14 Auburn won the team championship on the first playoff hole over No. 4 Florida. The two were tied at 16-under 848. Four of the five schools that finished in front of NC State are anked in the top 20 nationally.
Florida’s Bank Vongvani won from wire-to-wire with a score of 9-under 207.
The team is back to action March 27-29 at Hootie at Bulls Bay Intercollegiate, which is played at Bulls Bay Golf Club in Awendaw, S.C.
