RALEIGH, N.C. - NC State softball (8-10) defeated Fairfield (3-4) by a score of 7-2 in the fourth game of the Wolfpack Challenge this evening at Curtis and Jacqueline Dail Stadium in Raleigh, N.C.

Morgan Peeler, the Pack starter in the circle, surrendered two runs on six hits while striking out one in the complete game effort.

Alicia Abbott went 2-for-2 in the victory for the Pack, while Landon Warren posted a 2-for-3 performance in the game.

Bridget Desbois got the Pack on the board in the third inning, lining a double that scored Toni Ann Williford for a 1-0 NC State lead.

Fairfield countered in the fourth inning, tying the score at one when Kristina Lingo plated Lauren Liseth after a double to left field.

The Stags took advantage of two singles and two walks in the fifth inning to claim a 2-1 lead over the Pack.

The Wolfpack scored six runs in the bottom of the sixth inning off of four hits and two errors, all with two outs, to take a 7-2 lead over the Stags.

Breanna Andrews led off the frame with a base hit and moved to second off of a sacrifice bunt by Abbott. Later, Warren, Allbritten, and Bethaney Wells each also notched base hits for the Pack, which batted around in the inning.

NC State softball returns to the diamond tomorrow to take on Maine at 4:30 p.m. in the Wolfpack Challenge at Curtis and Jacqueline Dail Softball Stadium.
