Hudson Rains took 12th overall on the men's 3-meter dive as the NC State divers continued action at the 2011 NCAA Zone B Diving Meet on Friday, March 11.
Rains scored a 360.95 to place ninth in the prelims, later finishing 12th overall on a 691.75 total score. Chris Arcara posted a 243.75.
"Hudson did an amazing job, especially with his dive in the prelims," said head diving coach Jenny Keim Johansen. "We had a different strategy leading up to this event and it paid off. He's going against the top competition in the country, and he is making a name for himself. It'll be exciting to watch his career continue to flourish over the next two years."
On the women's 1-meter dive, Kirstyn Shepler recorded a 219.70.
Tomorrow, Saturday, March 12, will serve as the last day of the 2011 NCAA Zone B Diving Meet. Hannah Hopkins and Kirstyn Shepler will both compete on the platform dive.
