Forsythe Sets Another Record at ACCs

ATLANTA, Ga. - Dan Forsythe set a new school record for the second day in a row as NC State wrapped up its stay at the ACC Championships on Saturday, Feb. 26. In addition to Forsythe's record, Wolfpack men's swimmers posted five NCAA `B' cut qualifying standards and six all-time top-10 swims.
In all, the Pack set three new school records, hit 16 `B' cuts and recorded 15 new top-10 school marks throughout the ACC Championships. Nine swimmers posted at least one top-10 mark, while three hit two or more `B' cuts, led by Brandon Kingston's three.
A day after setting a new school benchmark in the 100 breaststroke, Forsythe set a new Wolfpack standard and hit a `B' cut with a 1:59.13 in the 200 breaststroke. Ian Bishop's 2:00.76 is seventh all-time, while Maxim Litvinov (2:02.72), Jake Matysek (2:03.75) and Andrew Tollefson (2:06.57) also competed.
Kingston hit another `B' cut with a 15:28.82 in the 1650 freestyle, the top mark on the team this year.
Ivan Kopas swam the third-fastest 200 back in school history and hit a `B' cut with a 1:45.40, while Ben Mechak (1:49.32) and Kohl Hurdle (1:50.07) saw action.
Jonathan Boffa (44.65) posted the eighth-best 100 freestyle in team history, while Conor Brennan (45.09) and Matt Thomas (45.39) offered the second and third top times on the year. Gaites Brown clocked in at 45.71.
Sean Reams hit a `B' cut and swam the fourth-quickest 200 butterfly ever with a 1:48.02, while Mike Seiferth's 1:49.22 is eighth-best. Barrett Miesfeld (1:50.42) and Brown (1:54.63) also competed.
Brennan, Joe Martin, Thomas and Boffa hit a `B' cut with a 2:59.03 in the 400-freestyle relay.
The Pack finished eighth overall with 197 total points.
Women's swimmers Marifrances Henley and Julianna Prim also competed at the Bulldog Invitational in Athens, Ga., with Henley posting a 23.71 in the 50 freestyle.
