LOS ANGELES, CALIF. --- Despite three 9.9s, all season-high efforts from Brooke Barr and Stephanie Ouellette, 25th-ranked NC State fell to ninth-ranked UCLA Monday at Pauley Pavilion.
The Wolfpack featured two 9.9s on the floor exercise, marking the first 9.9 in any event for the freshman Ouellette and a season-high for the junior Barr, on the way to a team total of 49.150, the highest in any event this season for NC State.
Barr's first 9.9 of the night came on vault, her best of the year. The Harrisburg, Pa. native nabbed two third place finishes for her efforts. Ouellette shared third place for her floor routine.
After landing the Pack's first 9.9 of the season a week ago, Rachel Fincham added a 9.85 on bars, good for second place, NC State's highest individual finish of the meet.
Jess Panza took home a third-place finish on the balance beam with her season-best 9.875.
NC State (4-6) notched a 195.025, its first trip north of 195 since a 195.150 in the season opener against Oklahoma. UCLA earned the victory with a 197.475.
Freshman Diahanna Ham turned in the best meet of her young career, scoring a 9.8 or better in all three of her events. Ham's best showing of the night came on a 9.825 beam routine to close the meet after submitting two 9.8 performances on vault and floor.
Next Sunday, the Pack holds its Senior Day festivities at Reynolds Coliseum as it hosts EAGL-foe George Washington on February 27 at 2 p.m.
