Diving Competes At USA Winter Nationals

KNOXVILLE, TENN. -- NC State diving wrapped up the first day of competition at the USA Diving Winter National Championships and World Cup Trials Thursday. The men competed in the preliminaries of the one-meter event, while the women took part in the three-meter prelims.
Hudson Rains placed 10th with a score of 297.05 to qualify for the quarterfinals, while Ryan Smith took in 23rd (272.35). The top 20 men advanced from the preliminaries.
Hannah Hopkins and Rachel Mumma competed in the three-meter preliminaries, but neither advanced to the quarterfinals.
Preliminaries for the women's one-meter springboard and the men's three-meter springboard will be held on Friday, Dec. 16. Quarterfinals for the women's one-meter will be held on Saturday, Dec. 17, followed by the quarterfinal for the men's three-meter springboard on Sunday.
The finals of the women's one-meter springboard will also be held on Sunday. Semifinals and finals of the men's one-meter springboard will take place on Monday, Dec. 19.
Quarterfinals of the women's one-meter and men's three-meter springboard will be held on Tuesday, Dec. 20. Semi-finals for the women's three-meter will be held on Wednesday, followed by the finals of both the women's three-meter and men's one-meter.
