RALEIGH, N.C. - Senior guard Kim Durham of the NC State women's basketball team has been accepted into the university's chapter of Phi Beta Kappa.
Election to membership in Phi Beta Kappa is one of the highest honors that students can earn at NC State University.
She has a 4.0 grade-point-average as a double major in Arts Application, with a concentration in film studies, and Business Administration, with a concentration in entrepreneurship.
Durham, from nearby Apex, N.C., is a four-year member of the women's basketball program. Originally a walk on, she earned a scholarship leading into her junior campaign in 2010-11.
She has been selected to the ACC Honor Roll the last three seasons for her work in the classroom as well.
The fall induction ceremony takes place on Sunday, Nov. 20 from 4-6 p.m. at Talley Student Center. Durham will not be able to attend because the basketball team is playing at TCU in Fort Worth, Texas, that afternoon.
She has played in 27 career games over the last three seasons, and scored a career-best nine points in a win over Florida A&M in her junior season.
Founded in 1776, Phi Beta Kappa is the nation's oldest and best known society for recognition of academic excellence and scholarly achievement.
The purpose of Phi Beta Kappa is to recognize and encourage scholarship, friendship, and cultural interests, and to support excellence and integrity in the pursuit of the liberal arts and sciences.
