Diving Competes at Nike Cup

DURHAM, N.C. – The NC State diving team competed in the opening day of the Nike Cup on Thursday, Nov. 17, at Duke University. The Wolfpack competed in the platform diving event for the first time this season.
Juniors Hannah Hopkins and Kirstyn Shepler finished second and third, respectively, in the event. Hopkins put up a score of 255.30, while Shepler finished close behind with a mark of 246.00.
Freshman Ryan Smith was the lone competitor for the men in the platform diving competition. He took fifth place with a score of 273.85.
The diving team will continue competing in the Nike Cup on Friday, Nov. 18, in the women’s three meter and men’s one-meter events. Preliminaries will begin at 11 a.m., followed by finals at 6:45 p.m.
The remainder of the meet will take place at the University of North Carolina in Chapel Hill, N.C.
