2011 Red, White & Black Event Program ![]()
Head coach Braden Holloway's new look Wolfpack swimming and diving program will take to the pool in front of an audience for the first time tomorrow, Friday, Oct. 7, as the team holds its Red, White & Black Scrimmage. Action will begin at 5 p.m. at the Willis R. Casey Aquatic Center on campus.
"We are looking forward to getting the kids in the pool and watching them compete," said Holloway. "This is always a special time for us, because it allows us the opportunity to compete in front of our friends, family, campus community and past letterwinners.
"As good of a time as we'll have, it's also extremely important that we take this as an opportunity to tune up for the season. We officially get started the very next weekend on the road, so it's essential that we take this seriously and work to get better in every way."
The scrimmage will boast a format unlike any other in program history, as the men's and women's rosters will be combined and then split into three even teams: Red, White and Black.
The three teams will compete head-to-head across 14 events, including diving, individual swims and two relays. Diving will serve as a combined event, while individual swimming events will feature one heat of men's swims, and one heat of women's. Both relay races will be comprised of groups made of two men and two women.
Fans may download a PDF of the event program at the top of this release. The program includes the compete season rosters, scrimmage rosters, season schedule, scrimmage schedule of events, lane assignments and scoring information, as well as bullet bios on the coaching staff and program tidbits.
No recap, results or individual times will be released following Friday's competition.
State will begin its season next week, Saturday, Oct. 15, against both Virginia Tech and James Madison (women only) at 1 p.m., in Christiansburg, Va.
