Tsui Climbs into Top Four at Landfall

WILMINGTON, N.C. - Freshman Vivian Tsui battled her way to a share of fourth on the individual leaderboard as 13th-ranked NC State slid into a tie for 10th on day two of the Landfall Tradition Saturday.
The Wolfpack posted a 25-over par 313 on the second day of an extremely high-scoring event on the Country Club of Landfall’s Nicklaus course to drop from a eighth into a 10th place tie with Florida State.
Tsui fired a 1-under par 35 on the front en route to her 3-over 75 to hang within five strokes of the individual leader, Victoria Trapani of Auburn, at 6-over for the tournament. Trapani sits at 1-over par heading into the final round, and Purdue’s pair of Paula Reto and Laura Gonzalez wrap up at 4-over and 5-over respectively to represent the only other golfers clear of Tsui.
The Pack leads Wake Forest by two and No. 23 Virginia by nine going into Sunday’s final round. NC State also holds leads over Tulane, Northwestern, Mississippi, Chattanooga, and UNC Wilmington.
Sophomore Ana Menendez carded the Pack’s second best round of the afternoon, a 4-over par 76 to climb to 33rd overall.
Junior Amanda Baker contributed an 80 to the Wolfpack’s team score, and Augusta James dropped into a tie for 57th with her 82 to round out the scoring. Brittany Marchand joins James at 57th after a second round 83.
