Men's Soccer Falls in OT at #4 UNC

CHAPEL HILL, N.C. - The NC State men's soccer team fell in overtime at #4 North Carolina Friday night, 2-1. After the Tar Heels (13-2-2, 4-1-2 ACC) struck first in the 32nd minute, the Pack's (6-9-2, 2-5 ACC) Nader Jaibat tied the contest in the 75th minute. UNC's Billy Schuler came through with the game-winner 2:02 into overtime, the only shot in extra time.
North Carolina struck first in the 32nd minute. Matt Hedges tapped in an assist from Rob Lovejoy close to the Pack's net at the 31:48 mark. The Tar Heels held a 7-3 shot advantage at the half.
NC State came out strong in the second half of play, launching the first four shots of the half.
The Pack broke through in the 75th minute. Sophomore Nader Jaibat notched his first score of the season, when he collected an errant UNC clearance and found the back of the net to tie the score at the 74:11 mark.
At the end of regulation, UNC held a 16-11 shots lead.
North Carolina came away with the win in the 93rd minute, as Schuler netted a through ball from Kirk Urso at the 92:02 mark.
NC State's Fabian Otte made six saves in the Pack's goal.
NC State has now had five games decided in overtime this season, going 2-3 in those contests.
The Pack will close out its regular season, traveling to Virginia Thursday night.
