Kissell And Illova Reach ITA Quarterfinals

RALEIGH, N.C. – NC State continued play today at the ITA Carolina Regional in Chapel Hill, N.C. Joelle Kissell and Tatiana Illova both reached the quarterfinals in the main draw singles. The Pack and also picked up a win in doubles action.
In the main draw singles, Kissell defeated Haley Hemm of North Carolina, 7-5, 6-2, in the round of 32, before topping Annie Hulholland of Duke 6-0, 6-3 to advance to the quarterfinals.
Teammate Illova defeated Jennifer Stone of North Carolina, 6-2, 7-5, to advance to the round of 16, and the prevailed over Yasmine Alkema of Winthrop, 6-2, 6-0 to reach the quarterfinals.
If Kissell and Illova both win in the quarterfinals, they will face each other in the semifinals on Sunday afternoon.
Kissell and Ashley Miller advanced to the doubles quarterfinals, defeating Olga Blank and Kelly Cameron of UNC-Wilmington, 8-6. They will face No. 1 seed Josipa Bek and Keri Wong of Clemson in the semifinals tomorrow.
