TALLAHASSEE, Fla. - No. 10 Florida State posted a 2-0 victory over NC State Sunday afternoon at the Seminole Soccer Complex.
FSU (9-4-0, 2-3-0 ACC) bounced back from its loss to North Carolina on Thursday by getting goals from Ines Jaurena and Tiffany McCarty.
NC State (8-4-2, 0-3-2 ACC) was shutout for just the second time all season, after coming into the game with consecutive draws against No. 9 Maryland and Miami.
Florida State created several scoring opportunities in the first half but could not find the back of the net until Jaurena's tally with less than two minutes left in the half to give the Seminoles a 1-0 lead.
The second half saw McCarty find the back of the net in the 80th minute.
NC State's best scoring threat came in the 78th minute when senior Paige Dugal fired a shot just high off the crossbar from about 30 yards out.
Senior goalie Kim Kern made eight saves for the Wolfpack, while Taylor Vancil made a pair of stops for the Seminoles.
The Wolfpack visits Longwood on Friday at 7 p.m., to complete this four-game road swing.
