Raleigh, N.C. - Sophomore Nazmi Albadawi's goal in the 71st minute proved to be all the NC State men's soccer team would need, as the Wolfpack shutout visiting Georgia Southern Tuesday night, 1-0.
The first half saw minimal scoring chances both ways, and a scoreless draw after 45 minutes of action.
The Pack turned up the offensive pressure in the second half, as NC State launched 13 shots on goal in the second 45 minutes compared to just two in the first half.
NC State nearly got on the scoreboard in the 69th minute, as sophomore Michael Osei's shot rang off the post and out of danger.
But the Pack kept the attack going, and scored the eventual gamewinner in the 71st minute. Zane Tharakan took a throw-in, which was controlled by Zabarle Kollie, and his touch found Albadawi who one-touched a shot into the back of the net at the 70:30 mark.
Albadawi now leads the squad with five tallies, and has scored the last three goals for the Pack dating back to last week.
NC State's Fabian Otte made three saves in the Pack goal to record his fourth shutout of the season, while Georgia Southern's Ryan Platt was forced to make six saves.
The Pack will return to conference action this weekend, hosting Virginia Tech Friday night at 7 p.m.
