Henry Wins Again for Wolfpack Track

BLACKSBURG, Va. – NC State junior Lawanda Henry won her third event of the early indoor track and field season with a 59-feet, 8 ½-inch toss in the 20-pound weight throw Friday night at the Hokie Invitational at Rector Field House on the Virginia Tech campus.
The junior from Dunn, N.C., finished second in the weight throw in the Wolfpack’s first two indoor events, at Christopher Newport’s Holiday Open in December and at last weekend’s Virginia Tech Invitational.
She also won the shot put in both of those meets. She will try to keep her unbeaten streak intact Saturday, when the two-day event concludes.
The Wolfpack had three of the top six finishers in the weight, with junior Brittany Hampton finishing third with a throw of 56-feet, 4 ¾-inches and sophomore Jessica Sanders finishing sixth at 55-feet, 7-inches.
In other events, sophomore speedster T.J. Graham was seventh in the 60-meter dash with a time of 6.75 seconds and sophomore Grant Pearce was fifth in the weight throw at 57-feet, 2-inches.
