Pulgar Highlights Weekend at UVa

CHARLOTTESVILLE, Va. -
Jaime Pulgar won three singles matches to highlight NC State men's tennis' showing at the UVa Plus One over the weekend, Sept. 24-26. Pulgar finished second overall in the A1 singles bracket, while Pulgar and teammate Ivan Sanchez Gomez took third in A2 doubles play.
In all, the Wolfpack grabbed five individual wins and two in doubles.
Pulgar topped Wisconsin's Billy Bertha (6-1, 6-4), Virginia's Brian Fang (6-22, 7-5) and Nebraksa's Benedikt Lindheim (4-6, 6-2, 7-5) before falling to Radford's Ivan Salec (6-1, 7-6(5)) in the A1 singles championship bout. Pulgar and Sanchez Gomez collected two victories in combo action, including besting Virginia Tech's Patrick Daciek and Luka Somen (8-3) for third place in the A2 doubles bracket.
Sanchez Gomez also topped Old Dominion's Tobais Fanselow (6-3, 6-1), while Sean Weber won the B1 consolation bracket by beating Sebastian Florczyk of Nebraska (7-6, 7-6).
