The latest Golfstat head-to-head standings has NC State ranked No. 4 in the country after two outstanding finishes to open the 2010 fall season.
The Wolfpack began its slate by winning The Invitational at The Ocean Course by six strokes over runner-up Notre Dame. The squad followed that win up by placing second at the Golfweek Conference Challenge on Tuesday.
NC State is 4-1 versus teams in the top-25 according to Golfstat.
Senior Brandon Detweiler has finished in the top-10 in both events, including a career-best third-place showing at the Golfweek Challenge. He fired a collegiate best five-under-par 67 during the final round to pace the Wolfpack.
NC State finished the 54-hole tournament with a team total of -16 (283-289-276=848), the programs best showing since a -26 (838) winning score at the Hootie at Bulls' Bay Intercollegiate from March 23-25, 2008, in Awenday, S.C.
Through two events, Detweiler leads NC State with a 71.5 scoring average, while sophomore Mitchell Sutton is right behind at 72.3, and freshman Albin Choi has fired a 72.7 stroke average to round out the top three for head coach Richard Sykes.
