Pack has Presence at USA Swimming Nationals

IRVINE, Calif. - NC State swimming legend and Olympic gold medalist Cullen Jones, as well as five current members of the Wolfpack swimming program, are currently competing at the 2010 ConocoPhillips USA Swimming National Championships. Dan Forsythe, Jennifer Kopenitz, Marifrances Henley, Barrett Miesfeld and Kelsey Liu are all competing along with Jones, the Wolfpack's 2006 NCAA national champion in the 50-yard freestyle.
Last night Jones tied for second in the 50 freestyle with a time of 21.97 seconds, securing a spot on the USA team for the Pan-Pac Championships later this month and the world championships next summer. Jones entered the meet as the American record holder in the event.
Through the end of action on Thursday night, Forsythe, Henley and Miesfeld had all competed. Forsythe posted a 1:04.30 in the 100 breaststroke, while Henley offered a 2:07.65 in the 200 freestyle. Miesfeld put up a 55.60 in the 100 butterfly and a 2:05.98 in the 200 butterfly.
Action will continue through Friday and Saturday.
