GREENSBORO -- By the time Jerry Richardson Jr.'s first PGA Tour appearance wound down early Sunday afternoon, it almost was a matter-of-fact exercise around Sedgefield Country Club.
Or so it might have seemed that way as the Burlington native fit in well and was unwavering in consistency during the Wyndham Championship. Then came what he called "probably the best shot I've ever hit" on the final hole.
"That thing was buried in the rough," he said. "(Caddie Chad Seagraves) said just go with it and I just hit it hard and it came out perfect."
The 6-iron from about 215 yards reached the putting surface and rested about 12 feet from the pin. Even though he missed the birdie putt, Richardson capped the tournament with a 3-under-par 67. That pushed him to 10-under 270 for the four days, good enough for a four-way tie for 49th place and $12,724.50.
