The NC State track squads will compete at two outdoor meets this weekend, making the short trip to the Tony Waldrop Tar Heel Invitational in Chapel Hill on Saturday and the even shorter trip to the Duke Twilight Meet on Sunday evening.
Scheduled to run in both meets is A’Tolani Akinkuotu, who has not competed since injuring his hamstring in late March. An All-ACC performer during the 2010 indoor season, Akinkuotu is scheduled to compete in the 100 meters at both meets and also run the 4x100 meter relay at Duke.
This weekend and the following are the last chances the Wolfpack competitors will have to qualify for the NCAA Regionals, which will be held in Greensboro May 27-29. The squads will travel to Georgia Tech on May 14-15 and at UNC and North Carolina A&T on May 16.
Currently, Ryan Hill ranks second regionally in the 1500 meters, second in the 5000 meters, and 19th in the 10,000 meters. John Martinez ranks 10th in the steeplechase and Jason Jones ranks ninth in the shot put.
