Gujarati Named CoSIDA Academic All-District

RALEIGH, N.C. – Akash Gujarati of the NC State men’s tennis team has been named to to the CoSIDA Academic All-District second-team. A sophomore native of Pune, India, Gujarati carries a 4.0 GPA in electrical engineering.
“Part of being successful as a team is what you do in the classroom,” said head coach Jon Choboy. “Akash has been a leader for us in that regard. He is very serious about school, and it shows his commitment to being an all-around student-athlete.
“To play tennis at a high level like we do in the ACC and carry a 4.0 GPA in electrical engineering is nothing short of impressive.”
During the 2010 season Gujarati posted an 8-8 record in singles play, primarily at the No. 5 and No. 6 spots, while going 9-4 in doubles.
To be eligible for the CoSIDA Academic All-District teams student-athletes must have a cumulative grade point average of at least 3.30 on a 4.0 scale.
