No. 7 GT Tops Softball on Emotional Senior Day

RALEIGH, N.C. – NC State dropped an 8-1 decision to Georgia Tech on Sunday, May 2 at the Curtis & Jacqueline Dail Softball Stadium. The loss moves the Wolfpack to 28-26 (9-12 ACC), while the Yellow Jackets climb to 46-9 (19-2 ACC).
Lindsay Campana (17-11) took the loss in four innings of work, while Stephanie Call tossed the final three frames. Hope Rush (26-6) earned the win in six innings, while Kristen Adkins tossed the seventh.
The Yellow Jackets put up four runs in the first. Jen Yee roped a double down the right line and came around to score two batters later when Kelsi Weseman clubbed a home run to left-center. Caitlin Jordan then reached on a two out error at short, and Rush brought her in with another two-run shot to right-center.
Danielle Dike made it 5-0 with a long ball to straightaway-center in the third.
Kristine Priebe moved the score to 7-0 with a two run double in fourth, bringing in both Yee and Weseman who had walked earlier.
The Pack got a run in the fifth on a Claudia Cooper fielder’s choice with the bases loaded, plating Landon Warren who had singled.
Weseman added another GT run in the sixth with an RBI base hit, scoring Yee who led off with a walk.
Following the game the 2010 senior class was honored for their careers with the Wolfpack.
NC State will resume play at the ACC Championships, May 14-16, at Virginia Tech in Blacksburg, Va.
