Softball to Host ECU on Wednesday

RALEIGH, N.C. – The NC State softball team will host East Carolina for a doubleheader at the Curtis & Jacqueline Dail Softball Stadium on Wednesday, April 14. Action begins at 3 p.m., with live stats available via GoPack.com.
NC State leads the all-time series 5-3, but ECU has won the last three meetings.
The Pack sits at 24-17 on the year after picking up a 3-1 win at No. 16 Florida State this past Sunday. Landon Warren leads the team in batting average (.333), runs scored (25), hits (41), and doubles (6). Stephanie Call carries 11 home runs and a .297 average, while Katie Mansilla has 10 steals.
Lindsay Campana (16-6, 0.88 ERA) continues to be a force for the Pack in the circle, limiting the Seminoles to three hits in the Pack’s win this past Sunday. In 151 innings of work she has fanned 198 batters and allowed just 19 earned runs.
The Pirates stand at 23-14, having dropped two games in a three-bout set against UAB over the weekend. Marina Gusman-Brown leads ECU at the plate with a .365 batting clip, 74 total bases, 25 RBIs , nine home runs and 10 swiped bags. Charina Sumner is batting .350 with 41 hits and eight doubles, while Christina Merrida is hitting .304 with 14 stolen bases.
ECU’s three pitchers have combined for a 1.97 ERA, with Toni Paisley (17-8, 1.39 ERA, 161.1 IP, 215 K’s) leading the way. Faith Sutton (6-6, 3.11 ERA, 78.2 IP, 65 K’s) has served as the Pirates No. 2 pitching option, with Gusman-Brown seeing just 4.2 innings in the circle.
NC State will resume ACC play on the road this weekend, April 17-18, at Virginia in Charlottesville, Va.
