Hill Sets Record, Leads Nation

On Saturday, the Wolfpack sprinters and throwers competed at the Murray Neely Invitational at North Carolina A&T, while the distance runners and jumpers competed at the Joe Hilton UNC Invitational in Chapel Hill.
In Chapel Hill, freshman Ryan Hill set a new school record to win the 1500 meters. The Hickory native’s time of 3:40.81 is also the fastest in the nation for a collegian in that event for 2010. He broke a record that had stood for almost 40 years, as Jim Wilkins set the previous mark of 3:42.70 in 1972.
Also at the UNC meet, Kris Kornegay-Gober finished second in the high jump with a 2.00m (6’6.75”) mark and Eric Davis tied for third at 1.95m (6'4.75).
At the meet in Greensboro, sophomore Brittany McCain was a winner in the discus with a 53.25m (174’8”) toss. Paige Eley took second place in the 200 meters with a 24.50 mark and finished third in the 100 meters at 12.11.
The Wolfpack will compete at 2010 ACC Outdoor Championships next weekend in Clemson, S.C.
