RALEIGH, N.C. – Hosting the first tournament on its own campus in school history, the NC State men’s golf team sits in second place after two rounds at the Wolfpack Intercollege being played at the Lonnie Poole Golf Course on NC State’s Centennial Campus. The 17-team field played 36 holes on Friday, with the Pack currently standing at 17-over (294-291=585).
North Carolina leads the field at 10-over (298-280), while Duke is in third right behind the Pack at 18-over (586).
NC State was led by junior Matt Hill and senior Adam Hogue on the day. Hill is currently in 12th place at four-over (73-73=146) and Hogue is in 19th at five-over (75-72=147). In the second round this afternoon, Hill had one birdie and was one-over on both the front-nine and back-nine. Hogue had a team-high five birdies in the second round, and improved three strokes in the second round of the day.
Freshman Mitchell Sutton is seven-over (73-76=149), while senior Brad Revell is nine-over (73-78=151). Sophomore Mark McMillen is 12-over (84-70=154), but improved 14 shots from the first to second round thanks to four birdies in the afternoon session.
Florida State’s Drew Kittleson leads the field of 90 golfers, as he was the only golfer not over par after two rounds. Kittleson is at even-par (74-68=142) and 36 holes, thanks in large part to a round of three-under (68) in the second round today.
