Hill Maintains Two Stroke Lead at Hootie @ Bulls Bay

AWENDAW, S.C. – Junior Matt Hill continues to lead the field after two rounds at the Hootie @ Bulls Bay Intercollegiate in Awendaw, S.C., as the defending NCAA champion takes a two stroke lead into Tuesday’s final round.
Hill shot a four-under (67) in the second round on Monday, and is two strokes up on a couple of golfers at seven-under (135) after two rounds. In the second round, Hill had a team-high six birdies, including a stretch of five birdies over an eight-hole span. Hill also finished the round stroke, shooting a three-under on the back-nine.
Hill has had success in his previous two times playing in the Hootie @ Bulls Bay Intercollegiate, as Hill won the event as a freshman in 2008 and finished fifth last season.
As a team, the Pack fell into a ninth place tie with Chattanooga, after NC State shot a two-over (286) on Monday, a five shot improvement for the Pack. LSU continues to hold the team lead, as the Tigers are at two-under (566) after two rounds.
Seniors Brad Revell and Adam Hogue are both tied at four-over (146) after two rounds. Revell shot a three-over (74) with three birdies in the second round. Hogue improved two strokes from yesterday’s first round, as Hogue used three birdies and finished the round at one-over (72).
Sophomore Mark McMillen posted a round of five-over (76) on Monday, and is at 11-over (153) through two rounds. McMillen had two birdies and posted a one-under on the back-nine.
Freshman Mitchell Sutton had the Pack’s top improvement from the first round, as Sutton finished nine strokes better today at two-over (73) and is at 13-over (155) after two rounds. Sutton used four birdies and was also one-under on the back-nine.
The final round will take place tomorrow.
