No. 47 M. Tennis Cruises Past ECU 7-0

Raleigh, N.C. - After the match was canceled this past Sunday against East Carolina, the No. 47 NC State men's tennis team took the court against the Pirates, winning 7-0. This marks the third sweep of the year in five matches.
The Wolfpack had a hot start, winning all three doubles matches to take a 1-0 lead. Rob Lowe paired up with Frideric Prandecki to win 8-5 over Henrik Salmerud and Stian Tvedt. The tandem of Dominic Hodgson and Dave Thomson beat Jeroslav Horvath and John Schmitt, 8-4. David Chermak teamed with Akash Gujarati to take down Bryan Oakley and Stephen Whitwell, 8-7 (4).
The Pack continued their strong play into singles. After falling behind the first set, Jaime Pulgar beat Jeroslav Horvath, 4-6, 6-1, 6-1. Hodgson moved to the No. 2 slot, winning 7-6 (1), 6-2, over Henrik Salmerud. Lowe defeated Stephen Whitwell, 6-3, 7-6 (6).
D. Thomson kept up his stellar play with a 6-1, 6-1 victory against Massimo Mannino. Fernando Banos won 6-1, 6-2, over Bryan Oakley. Gujarati ended the day by beating John Schmitt, 6-3, 7-6 (5).
The Pack travel to Norfolk, Va. on Saturday, Feb. 6 to face Old Dominion at 10:00 a.m.
