Men's Swimming Continues at ACC's

CHAPEL HILL, N.C. – Two NCAA “B” cuts and a top-10 all-time swim highlighted the performance of the NC State men’s swimming team on the second day of the ACC Championship on Thursday, Feb. 25.
Brandon Kingston hit an NCAA “B” cut and swam the ninth-fastest 500 freestyle in Wolfpack history with a 4:27.89. Mason McGee (4:33.27), Nick Brittis (4:38.20), Ben Mechak (4:38.72) and Tyler Mills (4:46.63) all gave solid efforts.
Kevin Woodhull-Smith clinched another NCAA “B” cut and posted the top time on the team this season in the 200 individual medley with a 1:47.92. Greg Baskwell’s 1:51.19 is second on the roster this season while Daniel Basler’s 1:52.51 is third. Dan Forsythe (1:53.52), Sean Reams (1:54.53) and Mike Seiferth (1:54.74) also competed.
Conor Brennan (20.63), Gaites Brown (20.81) and Travis Martinez (20.82) gave the three fastest 50 freestyles on the roster this year, while Steven Wright added a 21.11 and Kevin Vallario recorded a 21.16.
Brown, Brennan, Matt Voell and Martinez ended the evening with a 1:21.62 in the 200-freestyle relay, tops on the team for the season.
NC State sits in ninth-place with 62 total points.
Action will continue at the ACC Championship tomorrow, Friday, Feb. 26, with finals in the 400 individual medley, 100 butterfly, 200 freestyle, 100 breaststroke, 100 backstroke and 400-medley relay.
