Lawanda Henry Wins Second ACC Championship

BLACKSBURG, Va. - Lawanda Henry won the ACC Championship in the indoor weight throw with a school record and the longest mark in the ACC this season. It was also her third NCAA Indoor Provisional mark of the season in the event. Her mark of 64'00.50" was almost a foot farther than her previous best mark.It was her second ACC Championship after winning the outdoor shot put event last season.
Jessica Sanders earned four points for the the team with a fifth place finish in the weight throw. Sanders threw a distance of 58'02.00", the third-best distance in school history.
Emily Pritt qualified for finals in the mile by running the fastest time in prelims with a 4:51.43, close to a personal-best. Read more about Pritt and her favorite race - the mile.
Tiayonna Blackmon was sixth in the 800m prelims and qualified for the finals on Saturday with a personal-best and the fifth-fastest in school history time of 2:11.51.
The distance medley relay team of Erin Mercer, Gabrielle Daniel, Blackmon and Andie Cozzarelli finished sixth in the event, earning three points for the team.
