No. 62 W. Tennis Falls to No. 6 Duke

Durham, N.C. - The No. 62 NC State women's tennis team suffered a 7-0 loss in its ACC opener to No. 6 Duke on Thursday, Feb. 25.
Due to Daria Petrovic's injury from last match, NC State had to shuffle the doubles lineup and Duke took advantage, winning the point. The highlight for the Wolfpack was the duo of Lenka Hojckova and Tana Illova at No. 3 doubles upsetting the No. 28 team of Monica Gorny and Jessica Stiles 8-7 (3). Sandhya Nagaraj and Berkeley Brock paired up at No. 1, losing to Ellah Nze and Amanda Granson, 8-1. Ashley Miller teamed with Diana Mortlock at No. 2, falling 8-4 to the No. 24 tandem of Elizabeth Plotkin and Reka Zsilinszka.
In what was the closest singles match of the day, No. 107 Nagaraj lost to No. 104 Nze, 6-4, 7-5. Hojckova fell to No. 47 Plotkin, 6-4, 6-2. Brock lost 6-4, 6-2 to No. 34 Zsilinszka.
Illova was beaten 6-1, 6-2 by No. 60 Granson. Chloe Smith lost to Mary Clayton, 6-0, 6-3. Mortlock saw her first singles action this spring, but was defeated 6-4, 6-2 by Stiles.
The Wolfpack falls to 3-3 on the year and 0-1 in the ACC. NC State hosts No. 41 Florida International on Saturday, Feb. 27 at 1:00 p.m.
