RALEIGH, N.C. – NC State men’s swimming will travel down I-40 to Chapel Hill for the ACC Championships, Feb. 24-27, at Koury Natatorium on the North Carolina campus.
A complete list of events and times, as well as live webcasts and results, will be available throughout competition via ACC Swimming & Diving Championships Central.
The Wolfpack enjoyed a solid regular season, compiling a 5-2 (3-2 ACC) record with several breakout performances and solid swims. This year the Pack picked up conference wins over Duke, Maryland and Clemson.
Six NC State swimmers head to the ACC Championships with all-time top-10 Wolfpack swims under their belt. Mason McGee (200 freestyle, 500 freestyle, 1650 freestyle) and Kevin Woodhull-Smith (200 backstroke, 200 IM, 400 IM) each have three while Dan Forsythe (100 breaststroke, 200 breaststroke) holds two. Sean Reams (200 butterfly), Ben Mechak (200 backstroke) and Greg Baskwell (200 breaststroke) all have one top-10 swim.
McGee, who holds school records in the 200 and 500 freestyles, hit an NCAA “B” cut earlier this year in the 500 freestyle with a 4:26.12 at the Georgia Tech Invitational. Woodhull-Smith owns the school benchmark in the 200 IM.
Both divers – Hudson Rains and Chris Arcara – competed last week at the ACC Diving Championships. Rains posted team bests for the season in both the 1-meter (323.30) and platform (251.30) dives, while Arcara’s 250.90 is second this year on the platform. They have both already qualified for the NCAA diving zones.
