Akinkuotu Nearly Breaks Own School Record

BLACKSBURG, Va. - Senior standout sprinter A'Tolani Akinkuotu nearly broke his own school record in the 60m at the VT Challenge in winning the event. His time of 6.67 was an NCAA Indoor Provisional mark and the second-fastest time in the ACC this season. It was also just .01 off of his school record and the second time sub-6.70 in school history, with Akinkuotu's old record standing at 6.66.
Reggie Reese finished fourth in the 60m dash after posting a third-place showing in the prelims with a 6.86. Reese was also 11th in the 200m with a 22.12, a season-best.
Jason Jones (seventh) and Grant Pearce (10th) both finished in the top-of the weight throw.
Timothy Majors ran a season-best 8.50 in the 60m hurdles.
