NC State is spending the Thanksgiving holiday in Northern Nevada to play in the annual Nugget Classic hosted by the University of Nevada. The game today pits the only two Division I programs that have the nickname Wolfpack. However, the folks from Nevada spell it a bit different - Wolf Pack.
Fans can follow the action in three different ways. Live stats is provided for free, and a live video broadcast is also available for a small fee of $10.95 that will gain you access to all four games of the tournament. Please note this is not part of the GoPack.com All-Access package.
Wolfpack fans can listen to the NC State radio broadcast at GoPack.com. Links are provided above, including NC State game notes.
This weekend’s tournament also features San Diego State and Minnesota. Besides an impressive field of competition, the tournament will feature a number of promotional opportunities as well as working for charitable causes. Admission for all four games of the tournament is free to all patrons.
Nevada will be working to support the Kay Yow Foundation and Mom's on the Run to help fight breast cancer. There will be a silent auction and pink treadmill walk-a-thon during the game to help raise funds for the organizations. In addition, special pink Nevada shirts will be sold with a portion of the proceeds going straight to both groups.
Nevada head coach Jane Albright, a close personal friend of former NC State basketball coach Kay Yow, will also personally donate a dollar for every person in attendance over the 5,000 mark of the game, which would be the largest crowd ever to watch a Nevada women's basketball game.
"Kay's philosophy would be to keep part of any money raised local," Albright said. "That's why we're partnering with Moms on the Run. We really want people to come out for charitable support, but also see some really great basketball games."
