Swimmers Thrive on Final Day at GT Invitational

ATLANTA, Ga. - NC State swimming finished its stay at the Georgia Tech Invitational on Sunday, Nov. 21, with the men taking fourth overall (564 points) and the women placing fifth (333 points).
Men's and women's swimmers combined to record four all-time top-10 swims on the day, bringing the grand total to 15 all-time top-10 swims on the weekend. Women's swimmers posted 11 marks, while the men added four. Julianna Prim was responsible for four, Kaitlin Mills added three and Ivan Kopas posted two.
Prim recorded the second-fastest 200 butterfly in school history with a 2:01.03, as well as the ninth-quickest 100 freestyle on a 51.46. Mills' 2:01.08 in the 200 backstroke is the fourth-best mark ever, while Kirsten Esplin (17:32.65) and Maggie McEnerney (17:33.74) competed in the 1650 freestyle.
Jessica Ward (2:18.95), Kelsey Liu (2:18.83) and Christina McCann (2:22.07) saw action in the 200 breaststroke, while Lauren Poore, Ashley Richter, Prim and Marifrances Henley combined for a 3:25.92 in the 400-freestyle relay.
Kopas posted the seventh-best 200 backstroke in school history with a 1:47.26, while Brian Via (16:14.85) and Jimmy Ross (16:45.70) took part in the 1650 freestyle. Conor Brennan (45.33), Jonathan Boffa (45.57), Gaites Brown (45.79), Joe Martin (46.03) and Matt Thomas (46.28) all had strong showings in the 100 freestyle, while Ian Bishop (2:03.11), Dan Forsythe (2:03.41), Jake Matysek (2:05.48), Andrew Tollefson (2:07.61) and Maxim Litvinov (2:07.78) did the same in the 200 breaststroke.
Gabe Davis (1:55.13), Mike Seiferth (1:52.76) and Barrett Miesfeld (1:54.32) were solid in the 200 butterfly, while Martin, Brennan, Boffa and Thomas recorded a 3:01.95 in the 400-freestyle relay.
