Less than a week removed from winning its second tournament of the fall, the NC State men's golf team will compete in the Rod Myers Invitational on Sunday and Monday, October 10-11, at Duke University Golf Club in Durham.
The schedule includes 36 holes on Monday with a shotgun start at 9 a.m., and an 8 a.m. tee time on Tuesday.
Participating Teams (Rankings according to Golfstat)
Duke (No. 11), Charlotte, East Tennessee State, Iowa (No. 13), Michigan, Middle Tennessee State, Minnesota, NC State (No. 14), Rice, Tulsa (No. 30), UNC Greensboro and Virginia Commonwealth
Freshman Albin Choi captured his first career collegiate victory as NC State swept the 2010 Wolfpack Intercollegiate this past Tuesday at the Lonnie Poole Golf Course.
Choi earned medalist honors by one shot, firing a final round 72 (+1) to fend off Wake Forest's Lee Bedford.
NC State overcame a final-round, three-shot deficit to outlast Duke and take home the team championship. The win is the second in three events this season for the Wolfpack, which is ranked No. 14 by Golfstat. NC State opened the season with a victory at the Invitational at the Ocean Course in Kiawah Island, S.C.
The Wolfpack hasn't been lower than second in the team standings after any of its nine rounds played this fall.
NC State, ranked No. 15 in the Golfweek/Sagarin Ratings, is one of just three teams at the Division I level to own two victories thus far in 2010. The Big Ten’s Illinois and Iowa are the only other schools to garner multiple wins thus far. Iowa is also included in this week’s field at Duke, and is the only team to beat the Wolfpack this fall.
