RALEIGH, N.C. - NC State is receiving votes in The Associated Press preseason Top 25 women's basketball poll.
The Wolfpack collected 28 votes, the 32nd most in the first ranking of the 2010-11 season.
NC State will face four clubs ranked in the preseason poll - Duke (6), North Carolina (15), Florida State (18) and Maryland (21). Additionally, other opponents on the slate - Georgia Tech, San Diego State, USC and Miami - are receiving votes as well.
Last month, NC State was tabbed No. 20 by Lindy's in its preseason basketball publication.
The Wolfpack returns three starters and nine letterwinners from head coach Kellie Harper's first club that made an appearance in the 2010 NCAA Tournament.
NC State's three-returning starters in 2010-11 include Amber White, Bonae Holston and Marissa Kastanek, the ACC's Freshman of the Year, who also earned freshman all-america plaudits.
Other returnees include Tia Bell, Kim Durham, Hanna Halteman, Kelsie Lliteras, Brittany Strachan and Emili Tasler.
The five newcomers for the Pack are Kody Burke, Myisha Goodwin-Coleman, Devin Griffin, Breezy Williams, and red-shirt freshman Lakeesa Daniel. Goodwin-Coleman was ranked the 47th overall player in the country by ESPN HoopGurlz and the No. 12 guard nationally by the same publication.
Harper is coming off a 20-14 first season with NC State, and a third-career NCAA Tournament appearance. She spearheaded her club to the finals of the ACC Tournament by winning three games in three days, before bowing out to top-seeded Duke in the title game.
The Wolfpack will host North Greenville in an exhibition on Sunday, Nov. 7 at 2 p.m.
All home games are played at Reynolds Coliseum. For ticket information, contact the NC State Ticket Office at (919) 865-1510. You can also purchase tickets online at www.GoPack.com.
