RALEIGH, N.C. – The NC State men’s golf team will be in action for the first time this season, as the Wolfpack travels to Maryland to compete in the Maryland Intercollegiate at the River Marsh Golf Club this weekend. The 54-hole tournament will be played on Saturday and Sunday.
NC State will be sending six individuals, five playing as a team and one competing as an individual. Traveling for the Pack will be seniors Kent Copeland, Hertzog Landman and Brad Revell, junior Matt Hill, sophomore Mark McMillen and freshman Mitchell Sutton.
Last season, NC State was one of only three of the 18 teams that finished under par, as the Pack brought home a second place finish. Three golfers finished in the top-20 that weekend, with Hill taking fourth place, then-senior Darren Blair was seventh, and Revell was 13th.
In Golf World’s preseason poll, the magazine has the Pack ranked 13th heading into the season, Georgia Tech is the only ACC team ranked ahead of NC State at 11th. Golf World also ranked its Top 50 Male Players to watch, and the Pack’s Hill came in at No. 3.
In its college preview, Golf World picked NC State to win the ACC title, and it dubbed Mitchell Sutton as its top newcomer. For the complete preview, click here.
