M. Golf 6th After 2 Rounds at Ping-Golfweek Preview

BREMERTON, WASH. - Playing in perhaps the top fall collegiate golf tournament, the NC State men’s golf team currently sits in a tie for sixth place after two rounds at the Ping-Golfweek Preview being held in Bremerton, Wash. After first round play on Sunday morning, the Pack sat in third place after firing a 297, and in second round action NC State had a 301. After the two rounds played Sunday, NC State is at 22-over par (598), tied with UNLV.
Oklahoma has led from the start, and the Cowboys are currently one-over (577). Host Washington is in second 13-over (589), while USC and LSU are tied for third at 16-over (592), each just a stroke ahead of Arizona State in fifth (17-over, 593).
Junior Matt Hill is the top Pack performer through two rounds. Hill is in 11th place overall, sitting at three-over (147). Hill had a 74 in the first round, and then a 73 later in the day.
Only two golfers are under par after 36 holes. Peter Uihlein of Oklahoma State holds the overall lead at four-under (140), while Andrew Loupe of LSU is in second place at one-under (143).
Freshman Mitchell Sutton had the second-best first round score of the day, a one-under 71, but then shot a 78 in the afternoon round and sits in 22nd place at five-over (149). Seniors Brad Revell, Hertzog Landman, and Adam Hogue are all at eight-over (152).
A total of 15 teams are participating in the three-round tournament at the 7,152-yard, par-72 Olympic Course at Gold Mountain. In addition to the host No. 3 Washington, four others ranked in Golfweek's preseason top-10 will be present, including No. 2 Oklahoma State, No. 4 Texas A&M, No. 5 Arizona State and No. 9 Alabama. Also in the field are No. 12 Louisiana State, No. 14 Texas Christian, No. 16 USC, No. 23 Colorado State, No. 26 North Carolina State and No. 29 UNLV. The remaining teams participating are Chattanooga, Indiana, Kent State and New Mexico.
