Brock/Nagaraj Advance to Doubles Final

Charlottesville, Va. - The NC State women's tennis team continued play at the University of Virginia Fall Invitational on Saturday, Sept. 19.
Diana Mortlock won her lone singles match of the day, 6-4, 6-3, over Lucy Dougherty of UNC Greensboro. Tana Illova got her first win for the Wolfpack, defeating Carissa King of Dartmouth, 7-6, 7-5.
After winning her first two matches yesterday, Sandhya Nagaraj lost to No. 36 Michaela Kissell of Marshall, 6-0, 7-6. Playing in the fifth place bracket, Berkeley Brock was beaten by Sarah Leonard of Dartmouth, 6-3, 6-2. Chloe Smith won by default against Lauren Sabacinski of William and Mary.
Pender Sessoms won a hard fought match against Shelley Carpeni of Dartmouth, 7-5, 3-6, (10-8). Ashley Miller defeated Marlen Mesgarzadeh of William and Mary, 7-6, 6-0.
With doubles competition starting, Brock and Nagaraj defeated Behr and Dougherty of UNC Greensboro, 8-4. Following that match the duo beat Kissell and Bailey of Marshall, 8-4, to advance to the doubles final. Miller and Smith lost to Fraser and Fuccillo of Virginia, 8-5. In their second match, Miller and Smith fell to Maisak and Pereira of South Carolina, 8-3.
Daria Petrovic and Illova lost their doubles match, 8-4, to Fahoum and Dobrowolska of Old Dominion. They then played Scott and Winingham of Dartmouth, losing 8-2. Mortlock and Sessoms took the court against Raich and Kellner of Marshall, losing 9-8(1). Afterward they played against Carpeni and Zak of Dartmouth, winning 8-2.
The tournament will conclude tomorrow, Sunday, Sept. 20.
