McGee Takes 10th in 400 Free Finals at US Open

SEATTLE, Wash. – NC State men’s swimmer Mason McGee placed 10th in the 400 freestyle at the 2009 US Open National Championships on Thursday, Aug. 6. The rising senior from Shreveport, La., clocked in with a 3:54.68.
Earlier during the day he placed 11th in the prelims with a 3:55.54.
McGee holds school records in both the 200 freestyle (1:35.96) and 500 freestyle (4:20.60) and is a part of the school record 800 freestyle relay (6:29.84) squad. He also stands ninth all-time in the 1650 freestyle with a 15:30.48. McGee will serve as a team captain during the upcoming season and was recently named to the 2008-09 All-ACC Academic Team.
